Tesla showed off the first production copy of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck, which rolled off the assembly line of the company’s plant in Texas, informed Bloomberg. Thus, Tesla CEO Elon Musk fulfilled his promise to start Cybertruck production in mid-2023.
Recall that the Cybertruck electric pickup truck, which immediately attracted attention with its unusual futuristic design, was introduced by Elon Musk in November 2019. At the same time, plans were announced to launch mass production of new items in 2021. Interest in Cybertruck was so great that already three days after the premiere, according to Musk, the number of pre-orders for the purchase of a pickup truck exceeded 200,000.
Speaking last May at the annual meeting of shareholders, Musk warned that it would be difficult to ramp up production of the Cybertruck, as the unusual design of the Cybertruck causes certain problems during its assembly. In particular, difficulties are expected with the manufacture of a stainless steel pickup body. “It will be difficult to make the cost affordable because it is a new car, a new production methodMusk said. — By and large, compared to the pace of production of all the other cars that we produce, it will be small. But still very cool».
Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner expects Tesla to deliver 2,000 Cybertruck pickups in 2023, a fraction of the 1.78 million electric vehicles it plans to produce in a year, Bloomberg reports. In a report dated June 26, the analyst expressed doubt that the model would improve the company’s profitability, citing the difficulty of optimizing production and the need for larger pickup truck batteries.
