The electric car manufacturer Tesla continues to be in conflict with Swedish unions, as Tesla does not want to enter into a collective agreement that provides for certain guarantees and social benefits. In Sweden, such contracts govern most of the national labor market. The conflict has been going on for several months and has involved various unions, but in the latest development, the dispute may affect the operation of the Supercharger charging network in Sweden.
The representatives of the Swedish service and communications union “Seko” have announced that from March 4 they will stand in solidarity with the IF Metall union. This organization represents metalworkers and it is they who are in conflict with Tesla. So, from March 4, Seko will no longer service Tesla Supercharger facilities, construction of new locations, planning and any other work related to maintaining and developing the network in the country will not take place. If something needs to be repaired due to technical issues, then that is Tesla and their customers’ problem.
Many trade unions have become involved in this conflict – postal service providers who do not serve Tesla’s shipments have joined in solidarity. Also, port workers refuse to unload Tesla cars from ships. Some of these protests are no longer relevant or as disruptive, but business does not run smoothly anyway.
