Tesla China is known to be very active in marketing and social media. The team has previously introduced new accessories for “Tesla lifestyle”, which are only available in China, such as a car karaoke microphone, a CyberVault charging station, or a cat bed. And now, Tesla’s official Weibo account has announced a new promotional partnership with McDonald’s China to sell 50,000 Tesla Cybertruck themed McFlurry spoons.
When the news first started spreading from Weibo to X (formerly Twitter), even Tesla CEO Elon Musk didn’t believe it was real. statedWhat is this “fake news”.
However, it seems that this information is quite real. The message appeared on Tesla’s official Weibo account, and some Chinese Tesla owners claim to have already bought the new accessory.
The news was immediately overgrown with a lot of comments, here are some of them:
“CyberSpoon actually looks really cool! It’s strangely impractical though. I think it looks a lot like the CyberTruck itself.”;
“This will be the start of a full line of Tesla cyber cutlery, made from super-hard 30x stainless steel, just like the CyberTruck”;
“Imagine hosting a dinner party for all your cyber friends without those cutlery”;
“Obviously, collaborating with McDonald’s is a rather ridiculous undertaking, but sometimes even more stupid advertising initiatives turn out to be successful”;
“Honestly, at this point, it makes me want the McFlurry more than the Cybertruck.”
In any case, it’s quite funny that Elon himself did not believe in the reality of this promotional campaign. Perhaps this is a sign that he is out of touch with Tesla, since he pays a lot of attention to X, especially since the CEO does not always know all the advertising tools that his company uses in global markets.
