Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced last month “The ₿ Word”, a conference on the mother of all cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC). Dorsey then suggested to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to have “the conversation” with him about Bitcoin and Musk agreed.
Since then, however, we have heard nothing more about it and many people feared that the discussion would not take place after all, but now it appears to continue. The ₿ Word conference will take place tomorrow, July 21 at 6:00 PM Dutch time. The conference is described on the website as follows:
“The ₿ Word is a Bitcoin-focused initiative that aims to demystify and destigmatize mainstream stories about Bitcoin, explain how institutions can embrace it, and raise awareness around parts of the network that need support.”
The expectation is that Dorsey and Musk will mainly talk about the energy consumption of bitcoin. Musk contributed to the rise in the bitcoin price early this year when he… Tesla announced $1.5 billion had invested in bitcoin and will accept payment with BTC. Some months later Musk Suddenly Announced That Tesla Won’t Be BTC more accepting due to “environmental concerns.” That then contributed to the falling bitcoin price, which also pulled the rest of the crypto down.
In addition to Dorsey and Musk, several other well-known figures from the industry will also be in attendance. These include well-known names such as Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest, Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, Hester Peirce of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Anthony ‘Pomp’ Pompliano, Nic Carter, Lyn Alden, Peter McCormack, John Newbery and more.
The #TheBWord, a conference about the role of institutions in bitcoin, is in two days. What questions should @moneyball ask @CathieDWood, @jack, and @elonmusk? Nothing is out of bounds, not even whose idea it was to call it #TheBWord.https://t.co/bWcDJWp0Hm
