Tesla calls for tens of thousands of cars in service: a component breaks down when the trunk is closed – News from sources

China’s state market regulator announced on Friday that Tesla will recall about 55,000 electric vehicles due to defects that could potentially make them less safe, DPA and Reuters reported. Nearly 20,000 Model S cars and more than 35,000 Model 3 vehicles are affected by the move, Beijing officials said.

Safety risks include problems with the rear-view camera, as the equipment could potentially be damaged if damaged by drivers when opening and closing the boot, writes Agerpres. In China, the world’s largest car market, Tesla generates about a fifth of its sales. Since 2019, Tesla has a factory in Shanghai, where several thousand employees work. On Thursday, the US Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Tesla would recall more than 475,000 Model 3 and Model S electric vehicles to service trunk and rear-view mirrors, which increase the risk of accidents.

Last year, Tesla delivered a million vehicles to its customers.

NHTSA has opened an investigation into 580,000 Tesla vehicles following the carmaker’s decision to allow drivers to play various video games on car screens while on the move. Subsequently, Tesla did not allow these operations while the vehicles were in motion. In August, NHTSA announced that it had initiated the formal investigation procedure into Tesla’s autopilot system, following a series of accidents involving emergency vehicles.

The investigation targets 765,000 vehicles, which is almost everything Tesla has sold in the United States since its launch in 2014.

Since 2018, NHTSA has identified 11 accidents in which Tesla cars “got close to first aid sites and hit one or more vehicles involved in these situations.” 17 injuries and one victim were reported in these accidents. NHTSA will conduct a preliminary assessment of autopilot on the Y, X, S and 3 models produced by Tesla from 2014-2021.
