The social media company hid serious data security flaws, Musk said in the amended lawsuit filed in court Thursday. In it, the Tesla boss included allegations made by whistleblower Peiter Zatko on Tuesday.
Twitter has turned a blind eye to foreign intelligence infiltration, does not adequately protect user data, and has provided government agencies with misleading or inaccurate information about its security practices. “The latest revelations make it undeniably clear that Musk’s side has every right to withdraw from the merger agreement,” the amended lawsuit said.
Twitter said the company has investigated Zatko’s allegations internally. They wouldn’t be confirmed. Additionally, Twitter’s attorneys explained in court that they were neither a reason to withdraw from the purchase contract nor met the definition of fraud.
Musk announced in April that he plans to acquire Twitter for $ 44 billion. In July, referring to Twitter’s alleged false statements about the number of bogus accounts on the platform, he later stated that he would not complete the purchase. Musk and Twitter are suing each other. The trial is expected to begin on October 17th.
