Tesla accused of firing workers for criticizing Elon Musk

A number of former employees of US electric car maker Tesla have filed a complaint with regulators accusing the company of violating labor laws and illegally firing them, as they were part of a larger group that discussed and wrote draft letters criticism of CEO and founder Elon Musk.

And Bloomberg News indicated that a draft of one of the letters asked Tesla managers to reconsider the strict return-to-work policy announced by Tesla last May.

Others have protested Musk’s tweets, which they say violate Tesla’s anti-harassment policy.

An employee was fired last June, despite receiving a pay raise the previous month.

Another employee was fired just days after the first, and workers were told the talks represented an “attack” on Tesla, according to complaints filed with the National Labor Relations Board on Dec. 15.

The two employees said they were fired over their discussion of Tesla’s “failure to enforce its anti-harassment policy and post-COVID-19 return-to-work policy implementations.” No draft letters were sent to management.
