Retail chains invest huge sums in advertising in the Czech Republic in order to make customers buy from them. They often emphasize that they offer quality and affordable food. However, nothing could be further from the truth. In recent months, it has become increasingly clear that the Czech customer is only a cash cow for them, to whom they are willing to offer absolutely anything, and they do not hesitate to put an unreasonably high price tag on it.
I guess they tried
Currently, Tesco is particularly distinguished, where the State Agricultural and Food Inspection is finding one problem after another. What was really bad was when the chain sold chicken full of salmonella under its private label, which was discovered only later, so customers consumed it.
Another example illustrates the fact that something is really not working at Tesco. As SZPI found out, a large number of different cheeses were put on sale that should not have been sold under any circumstances. They were moldy. At the same time, these were very expensive cheeses, the price of which sometimes hovers around one hundred crowns per piece. For example Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano or Gran Casteli.
“All inspected packages were found to contain mold visible to the naked eye under the packaging. Food is not considered safe if it shows signs of spoilage,” she stated in addition, the State Agricultural and Food Inspection.

How could it have happened?
This is a truly scandalous finding. In fact, cheeses appeared in stores, where a large part or even all of them were moldy. That can’t just happen. If it was a single product, it would still be understandable, although that shouldn’t happen either. But when it is in this dimension, there must already be some intention in it or any control mechanisms have completely failed here.
In addition, such an incident is really problematic, because a part of the buyers might think that the mold is on the cheeses on purpose, especially when they all looked like that. Few people realize that the seller has put completely spoiled goods on sale.
