The Specials singer Terry Hall has died at the age of 63.
Terry Hall was the lead singer of the pop-punk band The Specials.
– It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, after a short period of illness, of Terry, our lovely friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers and songwriters this country has ever produced, writes The Specials in their Twitter account.
The English musician has died aged 63, after a short illness, The Specials said in a statement.
The Specials had popular songs in the 70s and 80s like “Ghost Town”, “A Message to You”, “Rudy” and “You’re Wondering Now”.
Hall left the Specials in 1981 to form the band Fun Boy Three, with band members Neville Staple and Lynval Golding. These too had several big hits.
Staple says BBC that the sad news hit him hard.
– We took on The Specials and Fun Boy Three together and created the story. He will definitely be missed.
