TERRORISM IN VIENNA⟩ Two men detained in Switzerland. The “Islamic State” takes responsibility for the shooting in Vienna – Abroad – News

“A police investigation led to the identification of 18-year-old and 24-year-old Swiss citizens,” police said, adding that the two men were detained this afternoon in Winterthur. Their detention has been agreed with the Austrian authorities.

It is not yet known how close they were to the man who carried out the attack in Vienna. Police are continuing their investigation.

The Swiss authorities previously announced today that they are investigating a possible link between the attack in Vienna and Switzerland.

The police in Zurich have set up a special task force to investigate the case.

The Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack on Vienna last night, in which four people were killed.

The group reported on its Telegram channels that the attack was carried out by one of the “caliphate soldiers” armed with an automatic weapon, pistol and knife.

The Islamic State said the attacker had “killed and injured about 30 crusaders”.

The 20-year-old suspect, who had Austrian and Northern Macedonian nationality, was shot nine minutes after he started shooting at people in the center of Vienna. He killed four people and injured 22.

The killer was found to have been a supporter of the radical Islamist state Islamic State and spent time in prison trying to go to Syria to join the Islamic State.
