A family experienced a real nightmare near Plovdiv and narrowly escaped tragedy. The action took place on February 26, shortly after 8 p.m., on the Plovdiv-Asenovgrad road.
The family, which is in a jeep, is traveling from Dolni Voden quarter to Asenovgrad. Arriving at the fork in the main road, a car is heading towards them from Plovdiv at breakneck speed. Instinctively, the woman driving the SUV turned the steering wheel to the right. Thanks to this reflex, a blow followed, not in the front, but in the rear left part.
The driver of the other car failed to take the turn, then crashed into the rear of the SUV. As a result, the culprit behind the wheel moves another 50 meters and stops. His car is a total loss.
The family in the jeep is already extremely stressed. The man checks the condition of his wife, sees that she is fine and leaves. At the same time, he sees two people coming from the other car with faces covered in blood. They come towards him, one grabs his arms and the other punches him hard in the stomach.
As he dialed 112 to report the incident, the punches and shoving continued. The guilty driver then runs headlong across the fields and disappears. His companion stays put.
Relatives of the victims, as well as an ambulance and the police, arrive at the scene. All three were taken to the hospital for examinations, after which they were released for home treatment.
“We are concerned about the improper verification. Both are stressed. The woman has not been able to sleep since the accident, does not go to work, and the man has high blood pressure. The strange thing about this case is that they find the getaway driver, but they don’t test him for drugs and alcohol.
No matter how many hours later they found him, there would still be traces of drugs if he had used any. Now he will get away with just a fine and suspension of his license for a few months. And it is also about an attack. It’s not people’s job to train martial arts to protect themselves.
And what is even more frightening is that this person will get up to drive again and the next time it can lead to a fatal end. Sheet metal is sheet metal, it can’t cry. The damage will be repaired. But if there are casualties? Does this have to happen to an employee of the Ministry of the Interior in order for the system to be activated and have consequences?”, asked the lawyer of the injured family, Evgeni Kostadinov.
According to “Maritsa” information, the escaped driver is from “Dolni Voden” district. Adv. Kostadinov pointed out that there are two cases pending for causing minor bodily harm – for the man and the woman. A report will also be made to Homeland Security to check how the uniformed are acting and whether they have taken the necessary action in the particular situation.
Our media contacted the police, from where they confirmed the accident with the two cars and that there was a runaway driver. “The reason it was not tested is that it took more than 10 hours for the guilty driver to be identified. An act was drawn up against him that, as a participant in a traffic accident, he did not fulfill his obligations and did not stay in place.
He is about to be fined and his driver’s license revoked for a period of 1 to 6 months,” the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city under the hills announced. Regarding the blows, the police explained that the law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene of the accident were not notified of such aggression by the victims.
