A girl has disappeared after entering the interior of the historic Casa Gasull. As he leaned against the door, he relented. Her friends saw her come in and have never heard from her again. There is an ongoing investigation, the press has covered the case, they are looking for it. But since then, things out of the ordinary have happened in the building. A team of fellows from a Sabadell parapsychology institute goes into construction determined to study them and, although doing so is probably not the best thing to do, they ask people to enter the house to enliven the paranormal activity that now surrounds them.
It is the plot of ‘La Maledicció de la Casa Gasull’, the experience of terror that this year – and there are already a few – articulated by thirty young people and volunteers from the Casal de Joves de La Palma. Throughout each of the three days in which the activity has spread, this weekend, about 200 people have visited the Casa Gasull. Inside her, fear. More psychological than ‘scare’ and extraordinarily involved in the patrimonial value that taking as a setting this modernist jewel, the work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner, private and that is only opened to the public on a few occasions, has brought him. Tickets were sold out in no time.
Dark rooms, completely in black, where the notion of space was lost and a parade of characters who did not lack the dark circles, the wedding dress or the bloody nightgown – the Bravium gave their wardrobe and some of the young people have already specialized in characterization – accompanied the devoted visitor on his tour.
Some of them had preferred to leave before finding out what had happened to the lost girl. And more than one had to make a serious effort not to get completely caught up in the game and enjoy, at the same time, even if only a little, the privilege of being able to see Casa Gasull from the inside. Still in the queue, among those who were walking by the montage, questions arose: «Could it be that a real girl has disappeared? What could have happened? If it coincided that there were a couple of free invitations left in the groups, they spontaneously joined the investigation.
The initiative also had a solidarity aspect. To participate, as has always been done, also in 2021 it was a requirement to donate two liters of milk to the Banc dels Aliments. Although most of those who dared to try ‘La Maledicció de la Casa Gasull’ were adolescents and young people, the adult audience was not shy. For the first time, the experience was endowed with a clear plot thread that it did not have until this year.
«Many people have also come, including some elderly people, who, after spending so much time in front of the closed house, have wanted to take advantage and enter to discover it; A whole mixture has been formed that in the end seems wonderful to us ”, explains Carme González, facilitator of the Casal de Joves de La Palma. The actor and set designer Álex Manríquez has taken over the creation of the passage, which has had the support of various entities and has been carried out thanks to the loan of Casa Gasull, since La Palma is under construction.
