Authority Russia investigate allegations rape after video torture gruesome at the local prison clinic, released to the public. The videotape became part of a large number of classified documents obtained by local activists.
As reported AFP, Wednesday (6/10/2021), the anti-torture project, Gulagu.net, which has sources within the Russian prison system, is said to have obtained more than 1,000 video files allegedly showing acts of torture by officials in various prisons in the country. .
At midnight on Monday (4/10) local time, Gulagu.net published a video showing a naked man being sodomized with a stick in a prison hospital treating tuberculosis patients in the city of Saratov. The man tied to the bed was heard screaming in pain.
Talk to AFP, Vladimir Osechkin, who runs Gulagu.net, said his group received the video and several other videos — presumably recorded with prison equipment — from a Belarusian citizen who had been imprisoned in Saratov.
The Belarusian, who was not named, was released in February and has sent several video recordings to Gulagu.net since March.
“We call it our Belarusian Snowden,” says Osechkin, who lives in France.
“This is the first time that human rights defenders have obtained such a large amount of information attesting to the systemic nature of torture in Russia,” he added.
