Heartbreaking video shows a terrified mother losing her eight-year-old son at sea. The boy disappeared into the water after falling into an opening between a cruise ship and the dock. Fortunately, the child was able to be brought back onto dry land with the help of passers-by.
The boy was on holiday with his parents and sister in Salerno, southern Italy, when he fell through a narrow opening and ended up in the water. His father then dove after him in a desperate attempt to save him, before both became trapped between a docked cruise ship and the dock.
In the video, the terrified mother can be heard screaming for her lost son: “Where is my child?” Passers-by then rushed to save father and son, who fortunately were both rescued from the water unharmed.
The boy is said to have been running around in the harbor, where he slipped and ended up in the water. No one was injured in the incident, but the boy is said to have been left shocked, along with his frightened parents.
