The tombstones in the cemetery are tagged down with yellow paint. Police saw similar vandalism on some German cars on Friday and are on their way to the scene to investigate.

The West Police District reports vandalism of around 17 tombstones in the cemetery at Hjelme church in Øygarden, which has been spray-painted with yellow paint. The police will investigate the crime scene and have opened a case.
It writes the police on Twitter, who call it “simple and mean”.

Operations Manager Eivind Hellesund tells VG that they received the message from the church trustee, who discovered that the tombstones had been removed with spray paint:
– We think it may have been done last night, but it is unclear. But yesterday afternoon was in the same place because there were some German cars that had received yellow spray paint on the car, so it is not unnatural that there are the same people behind.
As far as the police know, nothing specific has been written with the spray paint on the tombstones.
– It is terribly shockingly done. It is terribly sad for those who are affected, says Hellesund.
– How do you follow up further?
– We will go out there and look at the crime scene and if there is anything that can give us a clue, if anyone has seen people or cars in the area. But it is not a densely populated area.
