Brazil’s federal health regulator has stopped the use of 12 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac, produced in an unauthorized factory, Reuters reported.
The regulator has received a signal from the Butantan Research Institute in Sao Paulo, which has partnered with Sinovac, that 25 batches of vaccine produced at the plant, which has not received approval for their production from the regulator, have been sent to Brazil.
In the next three months, the production process will be inspected.
Reuters points out that at the beginning of the vaccination campaign in the country, Sinovac was the most widely used vaccine.
