Terrible! An Italian football legend has died – 2024-09-18 09:13:45

Unfortunately, they couldn’t save an Italian football legend.

The top scorer of the 1990 World Cup, Salvatore Squillaci, died this morning at the age of 59, Italian media reported.

The former striker, who has been battling colon cancer for the past two years, was admitted to the hospital in Palermo on September 7 in a serious general condition.

Two days later, the clinic announced that Skilacci was in much better condition, but his improvement, unfortunately, was only temporary.

On September 14th, his family announced that Toto was fighting with all his might. Today, this battle was definitively lost by one of Italy’s favourites.

Scilacci has seven goals in 16 games for the Italian national team. He scored six of them during the World Cup in 1990, thanks to which he won the “Golden Boot” for the top scorer of the tournament.

At club level, Toto scored 61 goals in 219 league appearances for Messina before moving to Juventus. For the Bianconeri, he scored 26 goals in 90 matches in Serie A. Between the 92nd and 94th game with the Inter team.
