Terni Hospital Rehabilitation Pool Reopens

The rehabilitation swimming pool in building C of the Santa Maria di Terni hospital has reopened after seismic improvement works. The plant is fully usable again after a brief closure necessary for redevelopment interventions.

The works, included in the seismic improvement project of building C financed with Pnrr funds for a total amount of 1,336,500 euros, involved the replacement of the iron frames with new ones in thermal break PVC and low-emissivity glass. At the same time, the structural reinforcement of two pillars was carried out with the Cam method (active stitching of the artefacts).

“During the closing period, from 18 to 23 November – explains a note released by Santa Maria – an extraordinary cleaning of the pool was taken advantage of, thus ensuring users a renewed, safe and perfectly functional environment, without causing inconvenience for the patients.”

“These interventions – concludes the hospital company – are part of the overall structural and functional improvement plan of our hospital, with the aim of guaranteeing patients increasingly efficient and welcoming spaces for their treatment and rehabilitation needs”.

**How ‍will ⁢the improved energy efficiency of the renovated pool contribute to patient recovery and overall well-being?**

## Santa ⁢Maria Hospital Reopens Seismic-Improved Rehab Pool: A Conversation on Safety ‌and Patient Care

**Opening:**

SANTA TERNI, ITALY – ⁤The Santa Maria ⁣di Terni Hospital⁢ recently reopened its‌ vital⁢ rehabilitation swimming pool in building C⁤ after completing ‌crucial seismic improvement works.

To delve deeper into the significance of these renovations and the impact they’ll have on patient ‌care, we’re‍ joined by ⁤two experts: **Dr. Sofia ‌Bianchi**, Head of Rehabilitation at Santa Maria Hospital, and **Architect Marco Rossi**, a specialist in seismic retrofitting.

Our⁤ discussion will explore the technical aspects of⁤ these improvements, their crucial role⁢ in ensuring patient safety, and the broader implications for hospital infrastructure.

**Interview:**

### What prompted the decision to undertake‍ these seismic improvements at the rehabilitation pool?

**Dr. Bianchi:** “Patient safety is‍ paramount. While⁤ our pool was functional, the older structure of ⁢building C raised concerns in light of‍ seismic activity in the region.

These renovations were essential to ‌provide a safe and durable environment for our patients undergoing vital rehabilitation therapies.”

### Can ‌you walk us through the key structural changes made?

**Architect Rossi:** “The project involved replacing aged‍ iron frames ‍with modern thermal break PVC⁣ frames and ⁣low-emissivity glass. This ⁢not only enhances seismic resistance but also improves energy efficiency and insulation.

Additionally, ‍we implemented the Cam method (active stitching of the artefacts) to structurally reinforce two critical ‍pillars, bolstering the building’s overall stability.”

### How will these improvements benefit patients ⁤specifically?

**Dr. Bianchi:** “A safe and comfortable environment is crucial for effective rehabilitation. Knowing that the pool is structurally⁣ sound alleviates anxieties and⁤ allows patients to focus on their recovery.

The upgraded energy efficiency also ‍contributes to⁤ a more pleasant and controlled environment‍ conducive ⁣to healing.”
