‘On August 10th (Tuesday, ed.) Lara went to sleep, surrounded by the people who love her – and right where she was at home,” Switten said on Instagram. “Lara will always be our bright spot. We lack the energy to provide everyone with an answer, but know that all the love, all support, all candles and cards are genuinely heartwarming.’
Lara was the mother of daughters Philippa (5) and Romée (2), and gave birth to a son, Gabriel, in December. “Who would have thought I’d make it,” she captioned a photo at the 31-week milestone just days before giving birth.
Earlier in 2020, during the NIPT test for Gabriel, Switten was told that she was suffering from cervical cancer. The treatment did not work and she realized she would never recover. “I will never see my children grow up again,” he said.
She shared her story on her Instagram account, where it resonated with her already tens of thousands of followers. She also wrote a column for an appendix of The last news about her experience and published a book this month.
