VACCINE Archipelago became a hot discussion in the Commission VII DPR RI meeting room. In that moment, Covid-19 vaccine made Terawan Agus Putranto dug up by the people’s representatives, including Adian Napitupulu.
Adian, who attended the meeting from the start, came to the conclusion that, “From this long debate about the Nusantara vaccine, I catch that there is … as if we are anti-research. As if research is something that is dangerous, unprofitable, detrimental, becomes a threat. a burden for the state, becomes a burden for this republic itself,” he said, Wednesday (16/6/2021).
He also reiterated the issue of research funds at the Eijkman Institute consortium which was only Rp. 11 billion, with Rp. 7 billion in the ‘ideal’ process. Likewise in the case of the Nusantara vaccine, he asked why some parties were so afraid of this research.
“What are you worried about from this research process? Maybe the doctor (Terawan) can tell us, what are the concerns of the state if this research is continued? For example, there is a very large loss there, endangering the country, endangering the population, can divide unity and unity, or what makes it seem like there is something super important, which makes the Nusantara vaccine must be stopped?” asked Adian excitedly.
Terawan casually answered the question. “Yes, I don’t know. That’s his opinion (the party that rejected the Nusantara vaccine),” Terawan replied.
He continued that as a scientist, he quite regretted the existence of such assumptions. Because, for Terawan, research is scientific democracy.
“From me as a scientist, I regret it. Because in my opinion, research is ‘democratic’, research is a very scientific democracy there. The most important thing is ethical, whether the ethics meet the requirements or not,” said the former Minister of Health.
