Terán will once again host the ‘Music of the Northern Peoples’ Festival

The ‘Cabuérniga-Música de los Pueblos del Norte’ festival will be held again fearing the historic meadow of La Castañeda, in the town of Terán de Cabuérniga. The sample stopped being made in 2002 due to lack of support. Nicolás Toral, mayor of the Cabuérnigo municipality, has assured that the celebration will be heard again. The Cabuérniga-Música de los Pueblos del Norte festival, which had been taking place the first weekend in August, was suspended due to difficulties encountered by its organizers in obtaining funding. The lack of aid was the main cause of the suppression of the contest, together with the limited success achieved in its last edition. His last stages were in Ruente.

The Cantárida magazine, which was part of the organizing committee, along with Musicos Tradicionales del Norte and Amigos del Festival, had announced on its pages that, what would be the 16th edition, was not going to take place “in the face of the accumulation of obstacles and discrimination that it has been suffering “by the regional administration and, also, by” unfair competition from other initiatives with full official guarantees of support and funding. ” It remains to be known now if the Cabuérniga City Council will have the same organizers, since the mayor did not specify it when he announced the return of the contest through the program ‘Onda Actualidad’, on the radio station Onda Occidental Cantabria.
