The municipality of The Hague will receive 100 to 120 asylum seekers from Ter Apel from tomorrow until January 15 next year. A letter to the municipal council states that this weekend “the acute situation threatens to arise that asylum seekers who report to Ter Apel will have to sleep on the grass”.

The Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) yesterday asked The Hague to agree to the reception of asylum seekers. The group is accommodated in the NH Hotel in Kijkduin.

Depending on the influx, it will become clear how many people will actually be accommodated, the letter states. This concerns adult men, women and couples. No children will be cared for. The hotel has fifty to sixty rooms available for the COA.

COA arranges guidance

COA provides guidance for the group and is supported by the Red Cross. Residents of the hotel will be informed by the municipality this weekend.

Party leader of the VVD in The Hague Lotte van Basten Batenburg on X expressed her dissatisfaction. “How do you come up with it,” she writes about the decision. “In the heart of our family seaside resort Kijkduin.” She added the letter to her post on X.
