In the Plovdiv village of Tsalapitsa, they are preparing for a new, big protest. Tensions flared there after the killing of a young man. Locals accused the police of delaying the investigation, and changes of police chiefs followed.
Hundreds of relatives, friends and residents of the blackened village sent the brutally murdered 24-year-old Dimitar Malinov to his final death. People are adamant – the protests will continue until a fair verdict is reached for the murder of the young man.
Tension after the murder of Dimitar Malinov: A new protest is expected
Residents are categorically against the removal of the head of the Stamboliyski Police Station while the pre-trial proceedings against him are ongoing. They are demanding that he be fired immediately and that his performance in office be investigated. The protesters also demanded legislative changes. Namely, that it should be recorded in the Criminal Code that those who assist in the commission of a murder are accomplices in the crime. Thus, they will be able to receive the same sentence as the perpetrators. Tonight there will be a big protest in the village, which is expected to be attended by citizens from all over the country.
