Tension in front of the Veliko Tarnovo hospital. The reason: the death of a 31-year-old man. His relatives doubt medical malpractice. What is the position of doctors?
The name of the dead man is Dimitar Marinov. His relatives and friends gathered outside the hospital to ask the doctors for answers. Their main doubt and concern is that he has been hospitalized negligentt by doctors.
The man was hospitalized the infectious disease department in Tarnovo hospital with pneumonia. He was treated, but a few hours after his discharge his conditions worsened. He developed a high fever which necessitated his admission to the hospital’s intensive care unit. He died seven days later.
His family, friends and colleagues are now demanding to know the truth about Dimitar Marinov’s death. They fear that, according to the epicrisis, he was discharged healthy and died.
An internal investigation is underway at the hospital. Documentation was seized by both departments. Also question the medical teams. Despite the concerns of the relatives, the health facility claims that all the rules of medicine have been followed and at this stage excludes medical liability.
“We tested for influenza A and influenza B. The samples for COVID-19 they were negative. We have a marker for a past COVID infection, but the patient had no record of it, e.g. he didn’t know he was out COVID-19“, Dr. Galina Gareva, medical director of MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” is having lunch in Veliko Tarnovo.
“We can’t bring my brother back. We just want justice in this country. How many more Bulgarians will suffer?! How many more families like ours will be blackened?!” Teodora Marinova, sister of the deceased young man, told bTV. .
