Deco, Blaugrana’s football director, also commented on the controversy, which gained notoriety on social media
The atmosphere of tension in Barcelona increases with each passing day. The most recent controversy in the Catalan formation has Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal as protagonists.
It all happened in the second half of Barça’s last game in the Spanish League, against Alavés, when Xavi Hernández’s team was racing against time to try to turn the result around and win the match – which ended up happening (2-1). The young creative trained in the Blaugrana squad decided to start alone on the right wing and finish himself against a tight save by Sivera, who saved it out wide. In the heart of the area was Lewandowski, who asked his teammate for a late cross. The young man crossed paths with the Pole and tried to greet him, as if apologizing for the decision he made, but the giant completely ignored him and left Lamine with his hand outstretched. The moment was captured on the television broadcast of the match and promptly reproduced dozens of times on social media, with most internet users disapproving the number 9’s attitude.

In a press conference for the Polish national team, Lewandowski commented on the situation, stating that it was nothing more than a normal game play. “It was a joke. Sometimes it’s normal for us to say something on the field or shout so that someone can hear us. There’s no story behind all this or meaning. There’s nothing to comment on, really”, he began by saying the figure of Poland’s attack, then commenting on the relationship he has with the young man. “I talk to him often during the game, I help him and give him advice”, he highlighted.
Deco was also called upon to comment on this alleged controversy. In an interview with ‘Rac1’, the former Portuguese international, current football director at Barcelona, highlighted the forward’s protective role towards the young player in another move during the game. “When Lamine suffers a foul for a penalty and the Alavés players go after him, the first to push the two central defenders is Lewandowski. We can stick with that image or with the incident with the hand. He is one of those who takes the most care of young people” , he stressed.
Lewandowski would even be decisive for Barcelona to win the three points against Alavés, as it was the Pole who scored the two goals in the Catalan victory.
O moment between Lamine Yamal and Lewandowski:
Absolutely disgusting from Lewandowski. Benzema had his flaws but he would never treat a 16 year old child like this pic.twitter.com/hXdZ6eaJHj
