The Afareaitu hospital structure on the sister island is starting to breathe better after several weeks of very high tension. In order to accommodate the sick as well as possible, the nursing staff had to push the walls and double their usual capacity. Fifteen people are now treated on site, including three in critical care. Since the start of the crisis, the small hospital has deplored the disappearance of 32 people. Tired by weeks of struggle, hospital staff received support from several reinforcements from within the metropolitan area.
