Tension Escalates between Endar and KPK Leader in Jakarta

Jakarta

chaos between Brigadier General Endar Priantoro and KPK leader Firli Bahuri is still heating up. Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Karyoto declined to comment on the Endar issue.

“I will not comment on internal issues at the KPK,” said Karyoto to reporters at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday (10/4/2023).

Inspector General Karyoto was previously known to have served as Deputy for Enforcement at the KPK. He was then returned by Firli to the National Police and then appointed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as Kapolda Metro Jaya.

Karyoto said he did not want to interfere with the KPK’s internal affairs. However, he said that his party would examine if there was a report at Polda Metro Jaya.

“But if there is a report here, that is our obligation. Later we will examine it, what kind of report is it, we as law enforcement investigators will of course examine it first.

Endar’s Dismissal Polemic

The KPK removed Endar from the position of Director of Investigation on the grounds that his term of office at the National Police ended on March 31, 2023. This removal then caused a polemic because the National Police Chief had extended Endar’s tenure at the Corruption Eradication Commission in a letter to KPK leaders dated March 29, 2023.

The National Police Chief has also returned to reply to Endar’s return letter to the National Police sent by the Corruption Eradication Commission. In the letter, the National Police Chief again requested that Endar remain on duty at the KPK.

Endar has also reported this polemic to the KPK Supervisory Board. He hopes Dewas can resolve the polemic that occurred.

The KPK then opened its voice. The KPK emphasized that the removal was carried out because Endar’s term of office ended on March 31, 2023. The KPK also stated that it had not proposed an extension of Endar’s term of office.
