Coast guard ship Filipina give a warning and repel a warship China caught sailing in the waters South China Sea which became a dispute. The Chinese warship was reportedly sailing within the Philippine exclusive economic zone.
As reported dpa and The Star, Monday (7/19/2021), the Philippine Coast Guard said that this incident occurred on July 13 in the waters of Marie Louise Bank, which is 147 nautical miles from the coast of El Nido, Palawan Province, western Philippines,
The Philippine coast guard ship reportedly gave verbal warnings and followed the movements of the Chinese warship.
Report Bloomberg The Chinese warship then sent out a radio message identifying itself as “China Navy warship 189” and asked the Philippine ship to keep a distance.
The Chinese warship finally sailed away from the Marie Louise Bank after being repeatedly challenged by the Philippine coast guard ship BRP Cabra.
Both countries are known to be involved in tensions in the South China Sea in recent months. On June 30, Philippine coastguard ships drove five Chinese and two Vietnamese ships away from the same area.
The Philippines has stepped up patrols in the waters of the South China Sea amid an increasing presence of Chinese vessels in the disputed area.
