“Thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Czech Telecommunications Office and entrepreneurs in electronic communications, we managed to launch a successful program to support the construction of high-speed Internet,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček.
–
Financial support will be provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade from the Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness (OP EIC). “The interest in subsidies and the total volume of quality projects corresponds to the assumptions of the announced calls,” Havlíček added.
–
According to current plans, 47,000 households should be connected to high-speed internet thanks to a financial injection. The total volume of planned investments should exceed CZK 2.5 billion. To the mentioned subsidy in the amount of CZK 1.9 billion, the remaining CZK 600 million will be provided by private investors from their own resources. The implementation date is scheduled for May 2023.
–
And where will people be able to enjoy faster connections? “One of the localities is, for example, Pec pod Sněžkou. A large number of projects are concentrated north of Brno (Kunštát, Blansko, Bystřice nad Pernštejnem and surroundings). The border in Lanžhot on the tri-border with Austria and Slovakia should also be covered. On the other side of the republic, the location of the Hřensko region or a number of municipalities in the Frýdlant foothills on the border with Poland, ”Filipová calculated.
–
“The projects are aimed at 718 basic housing units, in which a high-speed Internet connection with speeds of at least 30 Mbit / s is not yet available to the necessary extent. The aim is to provide a high-speed Internet connection for at least 47,000 flats for which such a connection has not yet been available and none of the Internet connection service providers was interested in putting it into operation within three years, “said a spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
–
It is calculated at a speed of 1 Gbit / s
In the future, other subsidies for the development of the Internet are also planned. “The Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently preparing new support programs. Future projects will further increase the speed of the Internet connection: for households it will significantly exceed 100 Mbit / s and for schools, authorities and other socio-economic actors it will exceed 1 Gbit / s, “said Marian Piecha, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for EU Funds.
–
“Coverage of so-called white spaces by high-speed internet, as well as high-quality connections of socio-economic actors, including schools and building authorities, are key priorities of the National Plan for Very High Capacity Networks, approved by the government in January. This document determines the framework of support for the development of digital infrastructure from the operational program and the National Recovery Plan, “concluded Petr Očko, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for Digitization and Innovation.
