Tens of millions for victims of American racist | Abroad

Dylann Roof, 27, was sentenced to death in 2017, which was recently confirmed on appeal. The self-proclaimed racist wanted to unleash a race war with the shooting. He has shown no remorse.

“This horrific act of hatred has caused immeasurable suffering to survivors and relatives,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. The settlement ends claims by the families of nine victims and the five people who survived the violence at Mother Emanuel’s church. The latter will receive $5 million and the others 6 to 7.5 million. They had filed lawsuits because the FBI had not discovered in time that Roof was prohibited from possessing a weapon under state law.
