Tens of billions of dollars in media transactions. WarnerMedia merges with Discovery

The new group will be led by David Zaslav, long-term CEO of Discovery. AT&T should own 71 percent of the new company and about $ 43 billion (903.22 billion crowns).

AT&T bought WarnerMedia only three years ago, when it paid $ 85.4 billion (1.79 trillion crowns) for it. This media group includes, for example, CNN, the HBO cable network and the Warner Brothers television studio.

WarnerMedia within the AT&T Group has so far been led by Jason Killar, who is behind the shift to streaming services such as HBO Go or HBO Max. His name does not appear in the application for approval of the agreement by the regulator.

The combined turnover of both companies in 2020 was $ 41 billion (860.92 billion crowns). Competitive Disney (The Walt Disney Company) achieved revenues of $ 65 billion (1.36 trillion crowns).
