7-seeded Catherine McNally advanced to the Midland semi-finals, beating wild card Sofia Kenin two sets to one (6-3, 0-6, 6-4) in Friday night’s session at the Greater Midland Tennis Center .
McNally, the 111th player in the world at the WTA, will face American wild card Peyton Stearns in the semi-finals of the Michigan tournament.
Early in the tournament, Catherine McNally had dominated Alycia Parks regardless of the score (6-3, 6-1) and Su Jeong Jang (6-3, 6-2).
Kenin, no. 253 in the WTA rankings, she won against wild card Maria Mateas (7-5, 6-2) and clearly overtook the No. 2 Madison Brengle (6-1, 6-3).
