He is undoubtedly THE revelation of the Roland-Garros 2020 tournament after defeating Swiss Stan Wawrinka and shaking Austrian Dominic Thiem, third player in the world. But before thwarting all the forecasts on the side of the Porte d’Auteuil, Hugo Gaston had also made a name for himself in Montauban. Thus in 2019, the Blagnacais participated in the Future tournament of the city of Ingres, a traditional early summer meeting.
After a defeat at the Toulouse tournament, it was on the clay court of the Ramier that he continued his season in an attempt to continue his irresistible rise. At the time, the 18-year-old was pointing at 514e place in the ATP ranking but did not intend to stop there (he will occupy the 157th world rank on Monday, October 12!). Hugo Gaston is one of the many French players to have tested the clay of Montauban before seeing higher, much higher.
