L’US Openthe last Grand Slam of the season (August 26 – September 8), is fast approaching. For some, the timing was a little tight to enter the final cut, and qualify for the main draw. But the tournament announced this Wednesday the players who will receive a wild card, and there will be some happy ones. Dominic Thiem (211th), who is playing the last season of his career, will be present. The Austrian, winner of theUS Open 2020was forced to play the qualifications of Roland-Garros in May. Same luck for Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss is trying to cling to the rankings, but is only 141st. He has received an invitation, and will be at Flushing Meadows, where he won the title in 2016. His 72nd career Grand Slam. Only four have done better in history (Roger Federer, Feliciano Lopez, Novak Djokovic and Richard Gasquet).

French wild-card Müller, four Americans expected
As always, countries hosting Grand Slams get a wild card. Alexandre Müller was designated for the French side. The former national number 1 had a good season on the secondary circuit, – title in San Marino – and is ranked 77th in the world. He has never won a single match in the main draw of theUS Open. The Australian Tristan Schoolkatewith a steady rise, won the Australian WC. On the American side, there are four of them. Chris Eubanks (123e), Zachary Svajda (110e), Learner Tien (232nd) and Matthew Forbes (1,843rd) were chosen.
