Tennis player Roger Federer inaugurated a nature-friendly playground in Emmen, in the canton of Lucerne, on Saturday. The area was financed by its foundation and carried out by partners.

This new playground is part of the construction project benefiting 31 schools in French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland. Their playgrounds will be refurbished and inaugurated by October, the foundation said in a statement on Saturday.
So far, nearly 10,000 schoolchildren and more than 1,000 teachers have benefited from the new infrastructure. And up to 44,000 francs have been made available by schools for the architectural realization of the outdoor space, she says again.
In view of the success, the board of the foundation wants to support 70 other schools. Schools, including Italian-speaking ones, can already apply.
