BERN. Swiss tennis player with Slovak roots Belinda Benčičová had a positive coronavirus test.
The champion of this year’s Olympic Games has announced that her illness is more severe, but she is not giving up her participation in the upcoming first grand slam tournament of the new Australian Open season.
Benčičová returned with a positive test from an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi. Rafael Nadal, a Spaniard, also became infected in the same place.
“I suffer from fever, pain, shivering, but I try to get through it as best I can. The timing is not ideal, as I am in the final stages of preparation for the Australian Open. As soon as I can leave isolation, I will head to Australia,” said Benčičová .
