Veteran tennis star Stan Wawrinka attacks the organizers of the Grand Slams!

The conflict between the interests of the players and the organizers is becoming ever greater, warned Wawrinka in an interview The Team and explained: “The real problem today is the Grand Slams.”
The 38-year-old complains that far too little of the high income ends up with the athletes – only a little more than ten percent of around 500 million euros: “They don’t distribute enough – in proportion to what they take in . And they have far too much power because they make so much money. The percentage given back to players is ridiculous. It has barely increased.”
“Even the Grand Slams are not untouchable,” threatens the three-time Grand Slam winner and demands that players and bosses sit down at the table to solve the problem: “Everyone wants everything without giving anything. We’re stuck – until the players say ‘Stop’.”
The Swiss does not even rule out a revolution like the one in the Gulf, where the competing format LIV, sponsored by Saudi Arabia, caused a stir.
“We’re not there yet,” says Wawrinka and adds meaningfully: “But if the Grand Slams don’t realize that they have to work in the interest of tennis, if they don’t understand that, then something could certainly happen. They need to understand that they are not alone.”
