As he approaches the twilight of his career, Stan Wawrinka has taken stock. Even if he refuses the term legend, the Swiss is happy to have won several Grand Slam tournaments.
In recent years, it has been difficult for some players to perform in Grand Chelem and to win Majors because of the presence of three sacred monsters of this sport: Roger FedererRafael Nadal et Novak Djokovic. Few players have succeeded in stopping the hegemony of this trio. One of them was Stan Wawrinka. Between 2014 and 2016, the Swiss player managed to win three tournaments in the Grand Chelem. A pride for Wawrinka, who took stock of his career.
“I am very happy with what I have achieved”
« For the moment, it’s very premature to speak of a “legend” concerning me, especially since I’m still on the circuit. For me, the term legend makes sense once you’ve really finished your career. I’m glad you can say that about me, but I don’t think about it. I am very happy with what I have accomplished. I had results much greater than I expected. When I was young I never set myself the goal of winning a Grand Slam tournament. My dream was just to be a professional tennis player. That is to say to enter the top 100 and live from my passion » told Wawrinka in an interview with We Love Tennis Magazine.
