The idea of Roger Federer to bring together the male (ATP) and female (WTA) circuits under one roof is not unanimous. She is obviously supported by voices that count, Billie Jean King and Rafael Nadal at the head, or Mats Wilander.
I agree, and have been saying so since the early 1970s. One voice, women and men together, has long been my vision for tennis.
The WTA on its own was always Plan B.
I’m glad we are on the same page.
Let’s make it happen. #OneVoice https://t.co/FHbQHLiY6v

Hey @Roger Federer as you know per our discussions I completely agree that it would be great to get out of this world crisis with the union of men’s and women’s tennis in one only organization ????????????? https://t.co/fTCfvMiU4G

But it is also criticized. “No problem would be solved with a merger,” said Dirk Hordorff, vice president of the German tennis federation, to Omnisport. Before continuing: “I am also a little critical about the use of this free time on the various media. Maybe he needs more followers on his Twitter account … “
Before him, the whimsical Australian player Nick Kyrgios had allowed himself to doubt the proposal of Roger Federer. “Have we really asked the majority of ATP about the idea of partnering with the WTA and whether it’s good for us?” He asked on Twitter.
Did anyone ask the majority of the ATP what they think about merging with the WTA and how it is good for us?
