Tennis players Medvedev and Halep refused to participate in the tournament in St. Petersburg

The third racket of the world, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev and the former first racket of the world from Romania Simona Halep refused to participate in the exhibition team tournament “Trophy of Northern Palmyra”, which will be held in St. Petersburg 1–3 December. This was announced by the organizers of the competition at a press conference on November 28.

“I spoke with Daniil Medvedev personally. A possible visit was discussed. I couldn’t come due to the intensity of my schedule. After the load, I needed rest,” said tournament general director Alexander Medvedev.

“Negotiations were held with Simona Halep. We were waiting for decisions on her trial. Unfortunately, they were not very positive for her. Simone wrote: “Let’s not tempt fate.” But she would like to come,” Kamelzon emphasized.

The exhibition tournament “Trophies of Northern Palmyra” will be held from December 1 to 3 in St. Petersburg. The competition participants will be divided into two teams: “Lions” and “Sphinxes”. Veronika Kudermetova, Anastasia Potapova, Diana Schneider, Karen Khachanov, Alexander Shevchenko, Yaroslav Demin, as well as Serbian tennis players Laslo Djere and Dusan Lajovic, Bulgarian athlete Victoria Tomova and Kazakhstani Alexander Bublik have already confirmed their participation.
