In mid-January, the unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic caused a stir when he entered Australia. First he is rejected, then he is allowed to stay, only to lose in court and have to leave. The world number 1 misses the Australian Open. But she doesn’t get any rest, the theater also follows her back home.

As the Serbian media portals “Kurir” and “Novosti” write, a criminal complaint is said to have been filed against unknown persons in connection with Djokovic. The reason? A PCR test presented by the 34-year-old in Australia. This is said to have been fake.

Milovan Suvakov, the former Serbian Minister of Education, who now works as a researcher in the US, analyzed the documents in detail and came to the conclusion that something must be wrong with the test result. According to media reports, this evaluation should serve as the basis for the criminal complaint. Nothing has been officially confirmed in this regard.

No French Open for Djokovic either?
Djokovic is also threatened with adversity for the future on the tennis court. After the Australian Open, he could also miss the second Grand Slam tournament of the year with the French Open (May 22 to June 5).
–
The Serb would currently be eligible to participate. He tested positive for Corona on December 16th and is therefore receiving a certificate of recovery in France that is valid for six months. In Djokovic’s case, this would only expire eleven days after the final in Roland Garros.

Now the French government could put a spanner in the works, as “l’Équipe” reports. The plans to shorten the validity to four months in mid-February. Djokovic would then only have a valid certificate until mid-April. If he doesn’t get vaccinated after all, he won’t be allowed to take part in the French Open – unless he gets infected with Corona a third time between mid-February and early May.
–
Number 1 is gone
Even before that, Djokovic is threatened with another worst-case scenario. Before the final of the Australian Open takes place on Sunday, it is clear that the Serb will be replaced by Daniil Medvedev as world number 1. Depending on whether the Russian wins or loses, the replacement will take place on February 21 or 28.
–
Nevertheless, Djokovic should keep his fingers crossed for him. Because his opponent is called Rafael Nadal. And the Spaniard could celebrate his 21st Grand Slam title with his second triumph in Melbourne after 2009. And thus become the sole record holder ahead of Djokovic and Roger Federer (20 titles each). (bir)

If DJoker submitted falsified Covid Test results to Australian officials, he has engaged in a crime against Australia. It would be no longer about whether or not he can enter a tournament. If true, which seems likely given the improbabilty that DJoker just happened to test positive on one of the only days that would open doors to Australia, does anyone really doubt that Serbia’s government didn’t participate in the fraud? Of course they did. They have a lot riding on DJoker. I’m sure no bribe was needed. I’m sure credibility of these revelations was the reason the report from Australia’s 3 judges was withheld-the timing would have been horrible to have made this public than (although spiegel.de had already published the allegation). But there is no way this won’t be investigated fully. If it turns out to be true, I can imagine DJoker claiming he did not know-it was a mistake-or he didn’t know cause someone else took the test for him. Ultimately if this turns out to be true DJoker’s concerns won’t be about whether he wins #21. I bet they ridded the country of him upon finding this to be true. Then decided it was too explosive to deal with until the tournament was over. Right after it is, all hell will break loose.
