The top-class ATP tournament in Rotterdam starts on Monday (live and exclusively on Sky). Daniil Medvedev beckons something historical.
The Russian could push the Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal from second place in the world rankings with a final and thus end a 16-year dominance. Since July 25, 2005 there were only four players in the first two places in the world rankings with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Zverev is also fighting for the tournament victory
The 20-time Grand Slam winner Nadal had to cancel his participation in the ATP tournament in Rotterdam due to persistent back problems. The field in the Dutch port city is nevertheless top-class. Also there is Alexander Zverev, who last had to admit defeat to the eventual winner Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open despite a strong performance in the quarterfinals.
In addition, with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev two other top 10 players will be at the start and Murray is making his comeback on the ATP Tour.
