Tennis: Nadal, Federer, Djokovic… He admits defeat

After a very long and successful career, Andy Murray decided to end his career recently, following a final doubles match at the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris. The Scot then looked back on his career and in particular the competition with Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. The 37-year-old player agrees that he has achieved some very good things, but it is nothing compared to the successes of his three former rivals.

Once again, the world of tennis has lost one of its most faithful servants. After Roger Federer some time ago, it’s now Andy Murray who decided to call it a day. The Scot played the last match of his career in a quarter-final in doubles at the Olympic Games of Paris.

Murray admits defeat to the Big 3

Pour Eurosport, Andy Murray looked back on his career. The 37-year-old notably discussed the competition with Rafael NadalNovak Djokovic et al Roger Federer over the years. The Scotsman admitted that even though his record was anything but ridiculous, he could only admit defeat in the face of the careers of the three members of the Big 3. “I think the hardest thing for me in that sense is that what Rafa, Roger and Novak have achieved is out of reach for anyone who plays tennis. The things I’ve achieved seem tiny compared to that. It’s easy to forget that you’ve won a few Grand Slams and the Olympics. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in that time, I’ve worked really hard for it and that’s all that matters. What other people say about it doesn’t matter much. Of course, I love tennis and I have a lot of respect for the previous generations and what they’ve achieved, which has given us a platform to do what we’ve done.”

Murray has won the Olympics twice in singles
