BRATISLAVA. When he started working with him in June 2006, Novak Djokovic was the 40th player in the ATP rankings and did not have a single professional title on his account. Their cooperation is also one of the longest and most successful in tennis.
Under the leadership of Marián Vajda, the Serbian tennis player became a world unit, winning 20 grand slam titles, 37 Masters titles and all major victories.
They have now agreed to suspend cooperation.
The information was provided by the tennismajors.com portal. Djokovic allegedly agreed to suspend cooperation with Vajda last year after the Champions Tournament in Turin.
–
This year, Vajda did not accompany the Serbian tennis player in any tournament. The rest of the world number two team remains unchanged – Croatian coach Goran Ivaniševič, physiotherapists Ulises Badio and Miljan Amanovic and fitness coach Marco Panichi.
According to tennismajors.com, Vajda wants to pay more attention to his family.
Since Djokovic is not vaccinated against covid-19, it is not known which tournaments he will be able to play in. The next two Masters 1000 tournaments are played in the US – Indian Wells and Miami.
–
If he wanted to start on them, he would have to be vaccinated, which he refuses. Its start in all three grand slam tournaments is currently uncertain.
This season, he has only played at the tournament in Dubai, where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals with qualifier Jiří Veselý.
Precisely because he could not defend last year’s points at the Australian Open, he lost the first place in the ATP rankings.
Vajda was an integral part of Djokovic’s career with a short break. In 2018, the ATP named him Coach of the Year.
