Captain John McEnroe’s Team World, which had already led 10-2 after the second day, closed the bag in the opening doubles in Vancouver.
Ben Shelton/Frances Tiafoe (USA) defeated Hubert Hurkacz/Andrej Rublew (POL/RUS) from Team Europe 7:6(4),7:6(5) and thus established an unassailable 13:2 lead.
13 points are enough to win
On the third day, three points will be awarded for each win. The first team to reach 13 points wins.
Therefore, the three Sunday singles no longer had to be played. Norwegian Casper Ruud celebrated the only match win for Team Europe, coached by Björn Borg, with a 7:6(6), 6:2 over American Tommy Paul.
Team World has successfully defended its title from last year. Overall, after six editions, the score is now 4:2 for Europe.
