Lost motivation
Novak Djokovic has already had a less successful period in his career, when he ended up winning all 4 Grand Slams at Roland-Garros in 2016. Less motivated because he had just completed a big goal, it took time to recover. It’s been a bit the same since the beginning of 2024 because it is now established that he is the greatest player of all time and that Roger Federer et Rafael Nadal will no longer be able to bother him. Right after his gold medal, Novak Djokovic mentioned the upcoming Olympics, as if to say that he was not ready to retire. Given his performances at this tournament, one can imagine that he can stay at the top for some time yet. “I think Novak can play three or four more years at the highest level. The real question is his motivation. I think he really struggled to motivate himself until the Olympics.” continues the French coach. The question now is what goals he wants to set for himself. His next outing should be at theUS Open (August 26-September 8).
