Tennis: Djokovic opens up about his relationship with Nadal and Federer

It’s difficult to talk about the little yellow ball in recent years without mentioning the Federator-Nadal-Djokovic trident. The world number one, Novak Djokovic, also spoke about his relationship with his eternal rivals the Swiss Roger Federer and the Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have won a total of 66 Grand Slam titles and spent 921 weeks at the top spot on tennis’ biggest tour. The Serbian spoke about his relationship with the Spaniard and the Swiss during an interview with the American channel CBS News: “We are not friends because we are rivals, which makes it difficult to be close and share the intimacy of our lives, because it could be used against us,” confessed the 36-year-old. But he hopes things will change in the future.

“We have shared the stage with great respect for so many years, so I hope that one day when the curtain closes we can sit down and talk and think, that would be fantastic,” added Djokovic.

Rafael Nadal is still active at the age of 37, but his recent years have been marked by physical problems. The clay court maestro has also announced his return to the circuit next year. Roger Federer, 42, retired from professional tennis in 2022.
