It will be Daniil Medvedev against Jannik Sinner in the final of the Australian Open. Medvedev qualified for the final after a turnaround against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.
Zverev started the match by winning two straight sets (7-5, 6-3), but then it stopped. Medvedev took over and won the next three sets 7-6, 7-6 and 6-3.
With victory secured, Medvedev turned to the stands and hushed a cheering crowd.
“Happiest person on earth”
– Previously, my statistics in five-seaters were not so good. Physically and mentally, five sets are tough, but I have tried to focus better than before. I don’t care what someone in the stands shouts or about any ruling that goes against, says Medvedev after the match.
The final between Sinner and Medvedev will be played on Sunday.
– I will be the happiest person on earth if I win on Sunday, says Medvedev.
