Crazy partner search by tennis star Coco Gauff (18)!
Before her second-round victory yesterday at the lawn tournament in Berlin, the French Open finalist went hunting for men on the net.
The American is looking for a mixed partner for the tournament in Wimbledon (June 27 to July 11). Not, as usual, via management or in person via short official channels. But on Twitter!
There the No. 13 in the world wrote: “Who wants to play mixed at Wimbledon?”
When BILD asks, she has to laugh: “I didn’t want to get rejected if I asked someone directly. So I thought I’d do it on Twitter.”
Background: This time there are no world ranking points in Wimbledon because Russians and Belarusians are not allowed to compete.
Gauff: “I thought to myself, this is THE opportunity to play mixed and forget about doubles.”
There is only one partner yet: “But I have seven to ten serious offers.”
