The 29-year-old Italian tennis player hits yet another great result of this 2021 and flies to the final in the WTA tournament in Montreal, the first 1000 of her career. It takes another battle of over two hours to get the better of Jessica Pegula in three sets, 6-3 3-6 6-1 the final score.

Giorgi is better in the first set, always in control (4-1 and then 5-2) apart from some problems with the serve, which will cost her dearly in the second set, that of the pride reaction of Pegula who seems to escape until 3 -0, before Camila – as already done with the Gauff – reassembles touching the hook. In the game that could be worth 4-4, however, the blue is lost in a double double fault and the American runs away. The effort is such that in the third and decisive set Pegula places the initial break and nothing else: Giorgi places a series of accelerations that disorient the opponent and allow her to quickly reach 4-1.
